The infant care that 樂樂 goes to has closed till the 20th, due to increasing number of cases of HFMD.

There were cases of parents bringing their children to crowded places like the zoo and Science Centre. To be fair, we pass by the town centre every day when we bring 樂樂 to and from infant care, but Science Centre is really too much. There are so many exhibits that encourage children to press a button here, pull a lever there. The worst case was a student being brought to the child care centre despite being diagnosed with HFMD a day earlier. Now, everybody has to bring their kids home, regardless of whether they have contacted the disease.

Luckily, my company is quite flexible about working from home. I will be working from home, starting from today till the school reopens. I'm not sure how much work I can get done, but at the same time, I get to spend time with 樂樂 so it's a mixed bag.

I'll upload the latest photos once I'm free. :)

From the updates from the teachers at his infant care, 樂樂 is having a blast everyday.

For one thing, he no longer cries when they wash his hair. In fact, his teacher remarked that he loves bath time. Even when we bathe him during the weekends, he cries sometimes when we dry his hair, so he is as comfortable in the infant care as he is at home. To be fair, I try to wash his hair more thoroughly as we do not switch on the air-conditioning the whole day, unlike the infant care centre. By late afternoon, his hair usually smells from perspiration.

In addition, the teachers have activities lined up for him everyday. Sometimes, the teachers will read from a storybook, sometimes the teachers will play a game of peek-a-boo with him, sometimes the teachers will teach them how to grasp soft balls in their hands.

The main concern for Jas and I now, is the recent outbreak of HFMD. There has been a few cases reported at the infant care centre already. They have implemented more checking for the kids, so I hope there will not be any new cases.

The only bummer about 樂樂 at the infant care is that we seem to spend very little quality time with him. There's only a few hours of play time with him, before he goes to bed around 9, 10. And when he wakes up in the morning, both Jas and I are too groggy to really enjoy his company.

It'll be the weekend soon, and we'll have 2 full days of playing with him. Woot!

樂樂 was 3 months old yesterday. Time really flies.

He is very comfortable at the infant care now. His teachers give us daily updates on his progress, and by all accounts, he is doing very well. He has no problems with his feeding and sleeping, and he no longer raises a fuss when they bathe him. We can sense that the teachers at the infant care adore him. Both Jas and I are really, really relieved that he is in good hands.

I brought him back to the paediatrician yesterday for his vaccination jabs, and he was a trooper. He gave a few wails and calmed down after that. Before that, he was cooing and babbling to the doctor, who was visibly impressed with him. He may have a slight fever for the next few days, so we are monitoring the situation, together with the infant care teachers. With the outbreak of the recent HFMD, we cannot be too careful.

He is smiling more, and smiling wider. Every early morning, he will babble in his baby voice until Jas is woken up. I, on the other hand, struggle to regain consciousness most of the time. But I do catch his smiles just before we leave the house for work, and waking up early is no longer a chore for me. He is impossibly more adorable than before.

Photos are uploaded.

Yesterday was 樂樂's first day at infant care.

We had originally enrolled 樂樂 in another infant care, which is just within the bus interchange. The fees there were higher, but it was really convenient. We had filled in forms, and promised a slot for 樂樂 even before he was born. A few weeks after he was born, we went back there, in the hope of discussing a realistic first day for 樂樂 when the principal told Jas that there were no more space left. Well, we asked specifically whether we needed to pay any deposit, and we were told we did not need to, the empty slot was available to us.

So we went to another infant care within the town centre. It's not as convenient, but it's not that bad. Luckily, there was an empty slot, and we were happy. To be fair, the teachers at the second infant care were more friendly. The staff at the first rarely smiled, and we are comforted that 樂樂 seems to be in good hands.

We are allowed to stay with him for the first 3 days. We didn't stay for the entire day, but Jas went back during lunch just to see how he was coping. He seems to be doing fine, although the teachers are a little concerned that he needs to be carried to sleep. We are hoping that he gets trained out of that soon. Lastly, the teachers' first impressions of him was that he tends to talk loudly. Well, I guess it came from one of his parent.

I haven't had much time to do much, just uploaded a few photos.

I have been playing with my latest toy for a while, and I was still chugging along on the first game that I got together with the set.

Well, one of the blockbuster game of the year finally came out a few weeks ago, and I have completed it. To be fair, it's a little short, but it's really good.

Yesterday, I found the English version of the game that I was waiting for, and I got it on the spot:

Today, in the office, my colleagues presented me with these as a baby gift.

The reason they gave was that I need to vete through it first, before passing it to 樂樂, so who am I to argue?
