Yesterday was 樂樂's first day at infant care.

We had originally enrolled 樂樂 in another infant care, which is just within the bus interchange. The fees there were higher, but it was really convenient. We had filled in forms, and promised a slot for 樂樂 even before he was born. A few weeks after he was born, we went back there, in the hope of discussing a realistic first day for 樂樂 when the principal told Jas that there were no more space left. Well, we asked specifically whether we needed to pay any deposit, and we were told we did not need to, the empty slot was available to us.

So we went to another infant care within the town centre. It's not as convenient, but it's not that bad. Luckily, there was an empty slot, and we were happy. To be fair, the teachers at the second infant care were more friendly. The staff at the first rarely smiled, and we are comforted that 樂樂 seems to be in good hands.

We are allowed to stay with him for the first 3 days. We didn't stay for the entire day, but Jas went back during lunch just to see how he was coping. He seems to be doing fine, although the teachers are a little concerned that he needs to be carried to sleep. We are hoping that he gets trained out of that soon. Lastly, the teachers' first impressions of him was that he tends to talk loudly. Well, I guess it came from one of his parent.

I haven't had much time to do much, just uploaded a few photos.

I have been playing with my latest toy for a while, and I was still chugging along on the first game that I got together with the set.

Well, one of the blockbuster game of the year finally came out a few weeks ago, and I have completed it. To be fair, it's a little short, but it's really good.

Yesterday, I found the English version of the game that I was waiting for, and I got it on the spot:

Today, in the office, my colleagues presented me with these as a baby gift.

The reason they gave was that I need to vete through it first, before passing it to 樂樂, so who am I to argue?

I login to my Facebook account every now and then, and I caught this the other day:

Diana and Goh Wee Leong are husband and wife.

With a baby in the family, it is sometimes difficult for husband and wife to do things together, like having dinner at the same time. Indeed, Jas and I often end up taking turns. But having to rely on Friend Finder to find your wife's Facebook account really sets the limit. Is David that hard to take care of? :p

I have some time before 樂樂's feeding, and I haven't been posting much, so I thought I should do a quick one.

Jas and I have more or less come to the optimum feeding schedule. When I arrive home from work, either I will pack dinner for her, or we will bring 樂樂 for dinner out. I may take a short nap after dinner and wake up in time to watch Jas give him the last feed of the day. That is usually at 10, 11 in the evening. After that feed, 樂樂 will usually fall asleep, and Jas will go to bed as well. I will then clear some office work or do some browsing, and do the feed at 1, latest 2 in the morning. After that, Jas will be responsible for the next feeds. This schedule is good for both of us as it allows us to take staggered amount of sleep. It may not be much, but at least it's a few hours of continuous sleep.

I have some time before my turn to feed, and I sometimes yearn for a hot drink at night. And we have been too busy to restock on anything much. So I dropped by NTUC the other day and I got these:

樂樂 is crying less now. During the first month, he would cry over little things. Like a spot of poo on his diapers, or just a tiny amount of urine. He would even cry for nothing. Well, nothing that we understand anyway. Now he passes motion less, so he cries less. He has also grown more tolerant of the diapers, and we sometimes have to check the diapers to find out that he has passed urine.

He is quiet for most of the day, and he is an angel during those moments. Sometimes, he will even reward us with a smile or an attempt at conversation. Part of me hopes that he can grow up quickly, and I can see him doing what he likes and searching for his own happiness. Yet another part of me wishes that he remains at this age. He may get cranky at times, but he is absolutely adorable.

樂樂 will be 2 months old in a few days time, and I have to say that the last month has been much faster than the first month.

The first month was eventful, to say the least. Besides going in and out, and then in to the hospital, it was a month of getting used to each other. No parent will want to see their child in the hospital, but one useful thing that we learnt from the nurses how to shush and pacify him.

The second month was relatively quieter, compared to the first. For one, he has grown, and it helps that his body is much better equipped to deal with the outside world. Of course, all the sleepless nights carrying him, working up a sweat trying to pacify him has helped us to anticipate his moods better.

In addition, a pacifier really, really helps a lot. We had resisted the idea initially, but he will be sucking his fist and putting his fingers into his mouth otherwise, so we relented and it has been a wonder what this small contraption can do.

Now, there are periods where he wants to have conversations with us. He keeps looking at us, and coos his responses between smiles. These moments, usually in the mornings, really make our day. He has been steadily putting on weight, and he should be around 5kg by now. He has been attracting quite some attention from the aunties in public lately, and he has taken all the attention and carrying very well.

Anyway, I know some of you are here for the photos, and not to listen to my ramblings. I will keep this short, and give you the link instead.
